over all horrible experience we had heard police officers were racist in Childress but did not believe it until then. sad. seems like brown skin can get you in lots of trouble.
we had a horrible experience, we were on our way back from Dallas and were stopped for speeding, I had just had surgery and my husband was driving, we thought the officer was after a big truck that was speeding in front of us and I guess he got away so the officer just went ahead and stopped us. got my husband off the vehicle and when I tried to get off to explain my husband did not speak English very well, the officer threaten me with his weapon to get back in the vehicle, I was so mad and got back in the vehicle, after the officer gave my husband a ticket, we went ahead and stopped at the court in childress to take care of it since we live in a different town. we had to pay for a speeding ticket. normal speed limit is 75, we got a ticket for going at a 76 mi/hr. my husband was using the cruise control. and the person who was really speeding over 80 got away.
officer Arant was very racist and rude, he tried to call immigration services as soon as he saw my husband did not speak English well.
